NARS NO LONGER CRUELTY FREE – Things We Can Do

I’m not going to sugar coat this. This news just ruined my day and it hurts me to share it with you, but I want to make sure that you are all aware that NARS IS NO LONGER CRUELTY FREE. They have changed their testing policy to include the dreaded, “except where required by law” clause and will be entering the Chinese market where animal testing on imported cosmetics is required by law. If you want more details about this, please check out Tashina from Logical Harmony’s post here. That is where I learned the news and she always does a spectacular job of explaining the details.

I want to encourage all of you to write to NARS (email customerservice@narscosmetics.com) and encourage them to reconsider their plans. Make sure to tell them you will no longer support the brand and they are losing you as a customer. I have already done this. Some of you may remember that this exact thing nearly happened with Urban Decay and the outcry from the cruelty free community was so strong that they abandoned their plans. We CAN make a change! It certainly doesn’t hurt to try. Below you will find what I personally wrote to NARS. Feel free to model your words after mine, copy and paste (though I would advise a few changes like your name 😉), or write something from your own heart. Honestly I feel like something personal is most effective, but whatever you choose to do, we NEED to make an effort to prevent this tragedy! You can call as well: 1-800-788-NARS from 8am-8pm EST Monday-Friday; 9am-6pm EST on Saturdays.

My letter to NARS:

My name is Christine and I am a cruelty free beauty blogger as well as a frequent customer. I have grown to respect NARS for its long-held stance against animal testing and resistance to entering the Chinese market. I am deeply saddened to learn that you have agreed to China’s animal testing requirements in order to expand into the Chinese market. You will not only be losing me as a customer, but so many other cruelty free beauty lovers who will now refuse to buy your products. I would like to encourage you to reconsider your entrance into the Chinese market and consider not only the animals that will be hurt on your behalf, but all of the customers who already know and love your line whose hearts are breaking right now. You will be losing a huge segment of an already familiar customer base. Please reconsider your decision and remain a cruelty free brand!

Thank you for your time and I hope you will take these words to heart.

My Cruelty Free “Travel” Makeup Bag!

If you saw my InstaStories this past week, a) thank you for watching my nonsense! and b) you’ll know that I went on a short road trip with my dad. It was just overnight, but I still over-packed…especially with the makeup. 😉 To be fair, I did use almost everything, but it’s a lot. Since I only took things that I love, I thought I would share the contents of my “travel” makeup bag with you! I’m skipping skin care as that’s a whole post unto itself; we’re just sticking to the makeup here. Like I said, there’s a lot so we best get to it! 😄 (Links to reviews and related posts in pink.)

Cruelty Free Sephora VIB Sale Recommendations – Spring 2017

It’s the second most wonderful time of the year for those of us with massive Sephora addictions! 😝 That’s right! The Sephora VIB Sale is almost here!!! I thought I would go through some of my favorite cruelty free products available at Sephora to give you a few recommendations while considering what new goodies to pick up this go-round. Real quick, the details as I understand them are that the sale runs from April 18th through the 24th for VIB Rouge members and your discount will be 15% off of everything as many times as you choose to shop in that time frame! Similarly, VIB member will receive 15% off between April 19th and 24th, while Beauty Insiders will be getting 10% off from April 20th through April 23rd. If you’re one of these lucky Sephora Insider members, you should receive a card in the mail as well as a code in your email that can be used over and over again during the above mentioned dates! There has also been some fantastic cruelty free news: Tashina from Logical Harmony has confirmed that Smashbox and Marc Jacobs Beauty (not the fragrances) have been added to her cruelty free list (Stila‘s back too)!!! Discounts and new brands and cruelty free goodness, oh my! 😜 Enough silliness, let’s get to the recommendations (linked to reviews if I have one). 😉

Cruelty Free February Favorites! Makeup, Skin, Hair, Nails, Random & a Fail!

Another month means another Favorites! 🎉 It’s been yet another one of those weird months that has felt insanely long while flying by rather quickly. In a way not a lot has gone on, but it’s also been weirdly busy. Whatever the case, February has come and gone and we’ve got a wide assortment of favorites this month that spans hair care, skin care, makeup, nails, food and, if you saw last month’s favorites another podcast that should be no surprise. 😜 There’s even something that really did not work for me. So instead of dragging this on further for no reason, let’s just get right into it!

Cruelty Free December (Mostly) Beauty Favorites 2016

I honestly do not know what happened to December. I feel like I just wrote my November Favorites post, but another whole month has passed! Between the Holiday festivities and baking my ass off, time has really flown past. But alas, here we are and I’m writing about yet another month of favorite beauty products. 🙂 I hope you’ve all had a wonderful month, a great Christmas, Hannukah, or whatever you may celebrate (if anything), and are having a fantastic start to the New Year. Whew! So crazy. But today’s topic at hand is the (mostly) beauty items I have loved the most throughout December. As always, let’s just get into it, shall we?

Cruelty Free November Beauty Favorites & Brief Update

Sooooo. Long time no post, eh? I wish I could say that I’ve been trying, but I really haven’t. I have had absolutely no motivation when it comes to the blog. But there’s nothing quite like talking about my favorite products of the month to help motivate me again! So at least for today, I have a new post!!! Whoo! ? As far as the rest of life, well…. The President-Elect is still making horrible decisions and making me question the viability of being American, and beyond horrible news seems to be hitting some of my friends, but things are going well enough on my part so at least there’s that! ? It’s been a roller coaster of a month so I’m glad to see it go, but I do wish I could relive Thanksgiving. It’s been so long since my little family has had a Thanksgiving with everyone in relatively good health. Fortunately this year everyone was healthy enough to enjoy it and we all did! ? If you’re curious, the “we” consists of just me, my Mom and my Dad. Basically the only family that’s ever been around me with any regularity and I love them dearly. If you remember, the past two Christmases have been delayed – last year until February! – due to health issues in the family so I’m hoping that this Christmas will be equally as enjoyable…and on time! ? But now we’re getting ahead of things and we have a lot of favorites to cover this month! So, on to my Cruelty Free November Favorites. ?
