Thanks to a crippling bout of writer’s block, I have nothing new to share today. We’ll see how I’m doing by Friday, but my hopes aren’t too high at the moment! ? If there’s anything anyone would like to see discussed or swatched or just generally rambled on about, please leave a comment with your thoughts. It would be greatly appreciated and I will do my best to get something up as soon as my mind returns to it’s proper locale. ? Apologies for this temporary hiatus and I hope to return as soon as possible! Thanks for your patience. ❤️
We’ve all been there. You wake up late. You’re not going anywhere important. Basically you don’t really feel like going to the trouble of putting on makeup, but you still want to look at least somewhat pulled together. On days like these, I seem to have a very different set of go-to products than my “I feel like making the effort” days. It’s not necessarily fewer products, but rather a lighter look accomplished in less time. I thought I’d share what I use to feel a bit more polished on those days when just brushing your teeth feels like a chore. 😉
Some people are really into contouring, highlighting and generally reshaping the face. Chiseled cheekbones and razor sharp highlights are their thing. Me, well I just don’t care enough to take the time. Enter the Smashbox Step-by-Step Contour Stick Trio! I can’t lie, I really only use the “Contour” shade and, if I’m really feeling fancy, the “Bronze,” but – spoiler alert – I am totally in love! For those of us without the patience, time or even real desire to sculpt the face on a day to day basis, these genius little sticks are absolutely wonderful!
Honest Beauty has recently been added to Ulta’s arsenal of beauty goodies. Naturally I thought I should give some of the products a try. 😉 If you’re not familiar with Honest Beauty, it is the supposedly eco-friendly beauty extension of the The Honest Company, which was started by the actress Jessica Alba. Unfortunately, I have recently discovered that The Honest Company (I have not seen any issues with the Beauty arm) has been the subject of a decent amount of controversy, often questioning its claims of being all-natural and plant-based. I have not seen any disputes about its cruelty free status, but I understand that some are skeptical of the company. Putting all of that aside for now, Honest Beauty launched with a whopping 83-piece collection with 17 skin care items and 66 makeup products! Honest Beauty’s philosophy is that the most important thing is “effectiveness and safety” while being honest about what products don’t contain – phthalates, parabens, petrolatum, sulfates, and chemical sunscreens. The company aims to provide versatile products for all skin tones at a reasonable price. And, of course, they are cruelty free! Assuming all of that is in fact true, who wouldn’t want to support such a brand? 🙂 I’ve tried a few makeup items from the line and thought I would do a quick overview of my thoughts on each of them for you today. So without further ado, I bring you Honest Beauty!
If you’ve passed a makeup aisle or walked by a Sephora lately, you may have noticed that cosmetic companies are desperately trying to cram color correcting products down consumers’ throats. I have known about peach and green correctors for quite some time now, but really unless you have trouble with standard concealers covering your issues, I don’t feel like you need to worry about this “new” trend. That said, I feel that with the redness, post-blemish discoloration, and dark circles present on my skin, color correcting can be very useful. Given that, I’ve been somewhat thrilled that there are some new colorful products to test out! My first foray into this revamped world of color correcting begins with the Cover FX Correct Clicks. So for today’s post, we’re going to discuss how the shades I have been using (the “Peach” and “Green”) have worked for me as well as go over some basics of the product and its purpose. Obviously everyone has different concerns and I cannot accurately review all the shades, but these two I feel I’ve tested fully and can weigh the pros and cons for you. Soooo, let’s hop to it! 🙂
It’s that glorious time of year again when Sephora offers a discount on everything they sell! In the Spring the discount is 10-15% depending on your reward card status – 10% for BI and 15% for VIB & Rouge members. Granted it’s not a huge discount, but every little bit helps, right? 🙂 The sale has just begun and runs through April 13th. Since high end cruelty free beauty seems to be right up my alley, I thought I would share with you my recommendations during the sale. I will also link prior posts like this at the end as all my previous recommendations are still at the top of my list…and some have shown up again on this list! But we’ve got a lot to get through.
On to my top picks! 😉
