Facial Exfoliant

Odacite Jojoba Beads Exfoliant – One Great Cruelty Free Vegan Scrub!

If you’re after healthy glowing skin, you absolutely need to be exfoliating. Whether that be with a chemical or acid exfoliant or with a manual or “scrubby” exfoliator, this is the best beginning to removing those dead dull skin cells and reveal that fresh healthy glowing skin underneath. That said, I find that a really great exfoliator is hard to find! In particular, manual exfoliators are one of those goldilocks-type products that are often not scrubby enough or are way too harsh for even the toughest of skins. As my skin becomes increasingly sensitive and ever more dry (read into that more and more dry flaky skin that I really want removed!), I find it even more difficult and even more important to find a great exfoliator for the face. Being on Accutane, I cannot really use chemical exfoliants and I need to be very careful with manual ones as well. Finding something that’s not harsh, while still being effective has always been quite the challenge. But fear not! Today I am sharing with you the solution – the Odacité Jojoba Beads Exfoliant!!!

So Long Summer! – August Favorites

::sigh:: Well, Summer is unofficially over. Though I am dreading the chilly days, the messy months of snow and sleet, the dying leaves, and the general malaise of Fall and Winter, there are some things I’m looking forward too as well. But that’s getting ahead of myself. Today we’re focusing on the last days of Summer and what I’ve been loving throughout August! It’s been kind of an uneventful month and I don’t have much in the way of makeup to share, but there are plenty of other goodies for your reading pleasure. Let’s just get into it, shall we? J

Where to start? I guess I’ll go with body products. I have absolutely been adoring my Deep Steep Dry Oil Body Spritzers! My favorite scent so far is the Brown Sugar Vanilla, and it will be perfect as the weather starts getting cooler too. It just has that warm, comforting feel to it. I’m not going to go into it much more since I literally just reviewed these, and you can check that out here. Amazing scents aside, these dry oils are just the absolute best moisturizers I have tried probably ever.

Sticking in the realm of moisturizing oils, I’ve also fallen in love with Coconut Oil, specifically for shaving my legs. Again, I recently wrote about this as well so I’m not going to drone on about it, but you can check out that review here. I’ll just say that it has totally changed the way I view shaving and my legs are thanking me for it!
Bailey likes it too! 🙂
For my hands – wait for it – I’ve been addicted to the Soap & Glory Endless Glove 2-in-1 Moisture Mask & Hand Cream. And surprisingly, I also recently wrote about this as well! In case you missed that, check out the review here. Smells good, does what it says, keep hands soft and smooth, moisturizes. What more do you need to know? Excellent stuff. J
Moving on. Something I have not written about yet (I know, crazy) is Manuka Honey. I’ve been using it to wash my face in the morning and I feel like my skin really likes it. Manuka Honey is known for it’s anti-bacterial properties, so it’s great for acne-prone skin, but it also helps soften and hydrate the skin. I actually feel like my skin looks more youthful with a bit more glow, as well as maintains a better oil balance throughout the day when I use it. I’m not going to get into all the potential benefits and what-not of using Manuka Honey here because this would end up insanely long, but I have really been loving it this past month.
Sticking with the honey theme (and making an unintentional pun), I have also really been enjoying the Amber Honey Exfoliating Scrub from CSI, which I believe is part of VitaCost’s in-house anti-aging line. It is an intense physical scrub for the face. Just a tiny little dot will be plenty to exfoliate your entire face. It will definitely get rid of any dryness or dead skin lingering about. It is not for the faint of heart and I would run the other way if you have sensitive, or otherwise irritated skin, but if your skin reacts well to exfoliants, this one is definitely great for the occasional intense scrub.

Hard to see, but insanely effective scrubbing granules
Finally, I have one lonely makeup item. It’s another standard black eye liner from Butter London. It is the Wink Eye Pencil in Union Jack Black. It is a standard creamy gel pencil liner in the vein of Urban Decay and the many others out there, but this one I’ve just gravitated to this month. It stays put – even on the waterline – and is a nice rich black. What more could you ask for? I would say that it’s every bit as good as the NARS pencil, which I reviewed here, plus it’s a tiny bit less expensive. I would definitely recommend checking out the Butter London pencils based on this one’s performance – and they have a number of unusual shades along with the old standbys. Well done, Butter London! J
I think that pretty much does it for August’s favorites. There are some other new things I’ve been testing out, but haven’t settled on an opinion yet, so I don’t want to include them here. Besides, this is long enough already! JI hope you enjoyed this trip through August’s favorites and I hope to see you again next month (well, preferably before that, but you get the idea)! J Thanks so much for stopping by and leave me a comment with what you’ve been loving!!!

Additional April Favorites – Hair, Skin Care, Nails & Makeup!!!

I know I just did a Favorites-like post (if you missed it, you can check it out here), but it only included recently discovered items, and I stuck only to makeup. Since there are still plenty of other favorites I’ve been using this month, I figured I would share those as well! So, without further ado, here are my April favorites!

I’m going to start with a skin care item that seems to be getting a lot of buzz lately – at least the brand has. It’s the Michael Todd True Organics Tropical Fruit Scrub. I tend to like a relatively rough scrub, even on my face. The problem is, most of the “scrubbier” scrubs use ingredients with rough edges that can cause microscopic tears in the skin. Jojoba beads are probably the safest alternative to many ingredients used in scrubs, but often I find jojoba bead scrubs are so gentle that I can barely feel the scrubbing action. The Tropical Fruit Scrub mixes the best of both worlds by using jojoba beads to exfoliate, but they’re large enough that you can feel them scrubbing. It still feels very gentle, but I can feel something is working on my face. It’s really the perfect balance. Plus, the Tropical Fruit Scrub smells really good! There’s a slightly “off” tropical fruit scent to it. By “off,” I mean it doesn’t quite smell natural, which is strange because there is no artificial fragrance added. Maybe it’s more of a tropical fruit juice kind of scent. Either way, yum! JMy skin feels soft and smooth after using this scrub, and I think it looks a bit more radiant too! If all that were not enough, it is also 96% Organic, Certified Vegan and Made in the USA! I really love the Tropical Fruit Scrub, so I guess the hype is well deserved! J

Next is a Clear Hair Gloss. I’ve seen it discounted at my local Ulta, so I’m hoping it’s not being discontinued! I’m not a big one for doing much more than wash and condition my hair in the shower, but I rediscovered the Healthy Sexy Hair Reinvent Color Care Top Coat this month. I’ve had this for a long time, but never feel like adding the step to my shower routine. Once I started using it again, I feel like my hair really is shinier! It’s really simple to use – you just apply it like any other shampoo or conditioner, and leave it in for about 3-5 minutes. Then, you simply wash it out. Couldn’t be much easier! It doesn’t make my hair overly shiny, and it doesn’t feel dry or greasy, my hair just looks healthier and shines like hair is supposed to. I’ve really been loving this and will be mightily upset if it’s been discontinued! J

On to nails. I don’t know what I would do without my Julep Freedom Polymer Top Coat! My first bottle was just about gone, so I tried a few others in hopes of finding a less expensive alternative, but no luck! I ordered another bottle of the Julep, and it is amazing stuff! My polish dries quickly and it gives the most amazing shine! You can read my full review of it here.
Moving into makeup, I absolutely love the Laura Mercier Secret Concealer in “1.” It’s very similar to the famed Bobbi Brown concealer, but I think the Laura Mercier version is even better (and still cruelty-free)! It’ very creamy and a great peachy-tone that really helps cover dark circles. It’s also not so peach that you need to add a flesh-toned product over it. It stays put and I haven’t found it to crease or settle into fine lines. What more could you ask for? J Definitely give the Laura Mercier Secret Concealers a look when you have a chance!
Next, there is one lipstick I find myself reaching for over and over again. It is both for the formula andthe shade. It is the NARS Lipstick in Niagara. The formula is really comfortable, not at all drying, and it stays put. It’s no where near as dark as the bullet looks. The shade is just a nice, subtly bright pinky-coral. It’s a really great lipstick and I love the color! Sadly, I’m not in love with a lot of the other shades of NARS lipstick, but “Niagara” is well worth a look! J

Lastly, I have another brush from Bdellium Tools! It is the 772 Small Shadow brush. I really like this because it’s quite small, which makes for precise placement of eye shadow. It’s great for shading under the lower lash line as well. I use it for brightening the inner corners of my eyes sometimes too. It’s just a great detail brush and I use it all the time! J

Sorry it’s dirty!!! :/ The tip is usually white.

And there you have my additional April favorites! If you’ve tried any of these products, I’d love to know what you think of them! I’d also love to know what products you’vebeen loving this month! Feel free to leave comments below! I read them all and try to respond, but I do admit that I’m not always super fast with responses. I love hearing your feedback though, so please, comment away!!! J
