Well, June has ended and we all know what that means! June Favorites time!!! 🙂 I don’t feel like I have a whole lot to talk about this month because it’s been a rather relaxed month thanks to a bruised tail bone, and I’ve mostly been reaching for the same old same old products. But there are a few stand-outs to discuss this month and we all know that I can make that go on for hours! 😉 Strange fact – I’m usually not very chatty in person. Shocking, I know! Since I tend toward novellas for the blog, let’s just get into it! 🙂

I would say my absolute #1 favorite discovery this month is a rather hyped up product. I mentioned it in my 5 Cruelty Free Products Worth the Hype post, and it is 100% worth every good word spoken about it! I’m not sure exactly what is in it to make it so special, but I’m talking about the RCMA No Color Powder! It is as it claims – a colorless loose powder – which seems rather boring, but honestly it sits on the skin like you’ve added nothing at all! It locks everything into place and I’m pretty sure it’s been helping with oil control as well, all without clinging to any dryness or looking like powder. There’s no color added, no texture added, no powdery cakey look added. It just keeps the skin looking like skin! And it’s cheap! 🙂 The packaging is a bit of a hassle – it’s a giant shaker bottle – but it’s totally worth the annoying delivery method because the RCMA Powder is that good!

Another item from the aforementioned post is the BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in “Opal.” More specifically, I’ve really loved putting this on my brow bone. Don’t get me wrong, it’s one of my absolute favorite highlighters on the cheek bones and the inner corners of the eyes as well, but I’ve just really loved adding highlighter under my brows lately. Not sure why it’s only been lately because it looks so pretty! Just a subtle, almost natural sheen that really brightens and lifts the brows. Really any highlighter could fit for this favorite, I’ve just been reaching for the beautiful almost bronzed champagne of “Opal” most often.

Another must have for me this month – which I need to add a clarification about the cruelty free status and my feelings on it – is the Smashbox Contour Stick from the Contour Stick Trio. Since I just reviewed the set this comes from, I won’t go on for long, but I’ve just loved using a cream contour in a stick and this one works like a charm. Quickly about Smashbox, I didn’t realize what their actual testing policy is currently (and thanks to Martha for prompting me to look into it further). I knew that they had pulled out of China, but didn’t realize that their current standing is as follows:

“We don’t test on animals, nor ask others to test on our behalf, except where required by law.”

They then continue on to say that they do not sell in any countries that require testing by law, so I don’t understand why they have left that clause in. This troubles me and from now on, I will no longer purchase Smashbox products. They are technically cruelty free, but it doesn’t sit well with me. Nonetheless, I feel as though I need to include the Smashbox Contour Stick in my favorites because I have pretty much used it every day! Fortunately, ColourPop recently added Contour Sticks that look mighty similar in use, so I’m hoping to test those out soon to see if they’re a suitable alternative – not to mention a much less costly and wasteful one (the Smashbox stick is only available in the Contour Stick Trio). Apologies for not doing better research before reviewing the Smashbox Contour Stick Trio, but I didn’t and I really have loved using the Contour shade in June.

One more really recent makeup favorite. I probably shouldn’t even include it because I have only been using it for the last week, but I absolutely adore it! It’s the new Urban Decay Vice Lipstick in “Rejected,” which is one of their newly added metallized finishes. I must say that the thought of a metallized lipstick scared the crap out of me, but I was curious and this underlying shade looked pretty. Oh my goodness is it! 🙂 “Rejected” is rose perfection! It is just the most gorgeous natural everyday “pretty” kind of lip color and the formula is also beautiful! It is a vegan shade as well. I believe all of these lipsticks may be vegan, but I’m still waiting for a response on that. As for the metallized finish, it is supposed to be metallic, but I feel like this one adds just a bit of a glow to the lips that catches the light in the most beautiful way. It’s not glossy and actually rather different from a cream finish, but it’s not frosty as I feared it could be. It just has a lovely dimension that’s eye catching without looking strange. Love the finish, love the shade. The wear time isn’t anything out of this world, but it wears away naturally without leaving behind some weird glittery nightmare. If you’re curious about the new Vice Lipsticks, this is a great one to pick up! 🙂

The last thing I have to mention this month may seem kind of strange, but I actually love them! They are the Pacifica Underarm Deodorant Wipes. There are a few variations of these and I have only tried the Odor Neutralizing with Coconut Milk & Kale Extract so far. I don’t use these as an actual deodorant, but more as a refresher. I’ll wipe my pits when I’m feeling less than fresh and then apply my standard deodorant again – and if I’m being 100% honest here, it’s actually a non-cruelty free anti-perspirant because try as I might, even the strongest prescription stuff doesn’t do the job for me. I’ve been blessed with super sweaty pits. 🙁 But back to the vegan Deodorant Wipes. They remove any sweat and/or unpleasant odor, leaving you with a clean feeling and nice smelling arm pits (the scent is very subtle and doesn’t linger, so fear not if you don’t want to smell like roses)! They’re perfect for Summer and for after the gym. It’s so quick and easy to just refresh everything for those times you can’t shower…and being a random sweater, this is a wondrous creation! Technically these are supposed to work as a deodorant by themselves, but I really cannot speak to their effectiveness since there’s not a natural deodorant that does enough for me. As a quick refresher, these Pacifica wipes are absolutely glorious and I feel like I should never leave the house without them…just in case! 😀

And that was my month of cruelty free beauty items in June! Not a lot of things, but some really great things! 🙂 If I were to add a lifestyle/fashion favorite, it would have to be maxi dresses because I’ve been living in them when not curled up in my PJs. 😉 They’re just so perfect in the heat because they allow air to circulate without exposing your bum every time you bend over. No one needs that hassle! 🙂 Anyway, it’s been a nice relaxing month for me and I hope you’ve all had a great June as well! I’d love to hear what everyone else has either been loving or been doing this Summer so please let us know in a comment! 🙂 I have been reminded this June just how much I love the Summer months! The sunshine, the long days, the greenery, even the heat. I’ve come to realize that it’s my kind of season, so you can add Summer as a favorite as well! That’s going to do it for my June Favorites, and I hope to see you back next week!!! 🙂

  1. O.M.G. – I have been having the hardest time finding a “natural” deodorant (and documenting my struggle on my blog). Where did you find the Pacifica wipes? I’ve seen the brand around, but never this product? This sounds like a great idea, or at least like they would make me feel a bit better about having to use an aluminum-packed drugstore deodorant :(. Where do you get them?

    Thank you for sharing!

    • I have had no success with natural deodorant, but I love these for a refresh before re-applying anti-perspirant. Wish I didn’t need the non “natural” stuff, but for now I do. I have seen the Pacifica Wipes at both Ulta and Target. Hope that helps and good luck with your hunt for the perfect deodorant! 🙂

  2. I like the look of the loose powder, the packaging is unusual but I can’t resist a loose powder. BECCA Opal is my favourite, how creamy is it?! I use it on my brow bone too. The contour stick sounds amazing! Shame about their cruelty free status being a little ‘open’, I haven’t tried Smashbox yet! xx

    • The RCMA powder is probably the BEST I’ve ever used! Absolutely love it, packaging aside. 😉 The BECCA highlighters just can’t be beat. Agreed that it is insanely creamy! 🙂 I’m hoping I can find something similar to the Smashbox contour stick because I really love it, just don’t love their testing animal testing statement.:(
