Happy #ManiMonday! I hope this wonderful start to the week finds you all well! Who are we kidding though? It’s Monday and no one likes Mondays. 😉 But sticking true to form, I do have my polish to share with you…complete with tons of unseen cat hairs stuck to my nails so have a chuckle at that. 🙂 The life of a crazy cat lady, I tell ya! Anyway, back on topic…. It’s been raining a fair amount lately so I wanted something bright and cheery. Also something I hadn’t worn before. Enter Butter London’s “Jolly Good!” It’s basically a bright bold peachy-orange-coral that screams Summer sunshine. It’s a fantastic polish for Summer and I’m happy with my choice! 😉

As far as the formula goes, this is one of the Patent Shine polishes Butter London released maybe a year ago. I have only tried one other shade from the line…I think…and was quite impressed by the coverage, the shine and the brush. Well, I was kind of disappointed by “Jolly Good.” Not because it’s a bad formula, I just expected it to be more even, especially since it’s a bolder shade. It took me 3 coats to get the polish perfectly even. I was being picky I suppose, but I was surprised because the polish is quite opaque, Somehow though it was just a bit uneven in coverage. I wouldn’t call it streaky, but it just didn’t quite look even. I probably would have left it at 2 coats if I weren’t photographing it, but I was so….

As I said, not a bad formula. It’s actually quite opaque and applies really nicely. The brushes on these polishes are fantastic! It’s that slightly flattened not-too-wide, not-too-skinny shape that fits on to the nail really nicely. The formula is not too thin nor too thick and dries with an impressive shine that really does look a bit like gel! 🙂 It’s a good polish, I was just not expecting the need for 3 coats with such an intense shade. In the end, I’m thrilled with the color and 3 coats is definitely not a deal breaker for me. I should add that these seem to wear pretty well with minimal chipping too which is awesome in my book! All in all, very happy with this week’s #ManiMonday! 😀

love and stuff,

  1. What a pretty shade for this time of year!! I haven’t tried these polishes, I just didn’t see any “must have” shades when they came out. What a bummer that you need three coats though! I’m quite picky as well on getting good coverage, I’m sure other people wouldn’t notice but I will and it will drive me NUTS, lol.

    • I wasn’t terribly drawn to these either when they came out, but when they were on sale I felt a need to try at least a few! 😉 If I were a more patient painter I may have gotten away with 2 coats, but I agree that 3 is annoying.
