Beauty Balms (or BB Creams) have been all the rage in Asia for quite some time. Recently they have gained popularity in Western countries and major cosmetic companies seem to have taken notice. One of the most recent companies to launch a Beauty Balm is Too Faced Cosmetics. No matter what your reason for seeking a BB cream, Too Faced’s Tinted Beauty Balm Multi-Benefit Skin Care Makeup is worth a look!
So what IS this wonder product and what does it do? BB Creams are basically your ultimate all-in-one product for the face. They are similar to a tinted moisturizer, but take it even further. These super-moisturizers often include anti-aging ingredients, provide greater coverage, include a broad spectrum sunscreen and actually work to improve the appearance and texture of skin over time. As if that weren’t enough, if you still would like more coverage, they make a great primer for foundation. No wonder Beauty Balms have been the next great find in Asia – what took so long in the States?
So what makes the new Tinted Beauty Balm Multi-Benefit Skin Care Makeup from Too Faced so special? Like all Beauty Balms, Too Faced’s version is like a moisturizer on
steroids. It is a wonderful hypo-allergenic oil-free moisturizer that contains an anti-aging multi-mineral complex for creating a healthy glow and improving the overall appearance of skin upon application. Among these minerals are Magnesium, Potassium, Zinc, Ginseng and Ginko Biloba. It contains light-diffusing pigments that blend effortlessly and create a radiant glowing tint to the skin. This BB Cream also includes a multi-mineral complex that acts as an anti-aging primer which protects against further damage. It includes a broad-spectrum, chemical-free SPF 20 for daily protection from the sun’s damaging UVA and UVB rays. To soothe and nourish the skin, the Too Faced Tinted Beauty Balm also includes Vitamins A & E as well as Chamomile. The result is a nicely moisturized face that feels hydrated, but not greasy while protecting from the sun and imparts a glowing tint that lets skin shine through, or primes the face for foundation.
All that sounds wonderful, but does it really deliver? I would have to say yes – but it depends on what you’re expecting. If you want a full-coverage foundation with the properties of a moisturizer, this is not it. However, if you’re looking for a great moisturizer that makes skin look better, feels nicely hydrated and soft without feeling heavy or greasy, has anti-aging properties AND protects from the sun, Too Faced’s Tinted Beauty Balm Multi-Benefit Skin Care Makeup is wonderful! I really like it a lot!
Though it is unlikely to replace every skin product I use, the Too Faced Beauty Balm really is a great all-around product that can simplify one’s daily routine. As far as coverage goes, I feel like this gives a little bit more coverage than a standard tinted moisturizer, but not as much as a sheer to light coverage foundation. Though I have some slowly fading red spots, I feel like this evens the rest of my skin tone out well enough that I would gladly just dab a little concealer over the redness to create a nice, even face. The thick, creamy and super-soft formula does not settle into any dips or bumps and really does seem to improve the appearance of the skin’s texture while making it look brighter and somewhat glowing. My father, who never notices much of anything especially if it’s related to beauty, actually commented on how nice my skin looked one day and all I had done was apply the Too Faced Tinted BB cream!
The nice thick cream glides on silky smooth, blends very well and makes my skin very soft. My face feels nicely hydrated without feeling like it’s slathered with a heavy moisturizer and it does not make my face feel greasy. Though it does not control oil throughout the day, I feel like my combination skin does not produce more oil throughout the day than without this BB cream. I feel like the Too Faced Tinted Beauty Balm would actually work for any skin type!
I love that it protects against UVA and UVB rays and the SPF 20 is a fairly standard amount for normal daily exposure. Certainly if I were heading to the beach or spending the day hiking, I would wear an additional sunscreen for the more extreme sun.
It has a very light, barely noticeable scent that is pleasant and does not seem to linger on the skin and packaged in a nice light tan tube with a pink duo-chrome glow which looks pretty cool.
So what’s the bottom line? Though I wouldn’t go so far as to say I would never need another product for my face, the Too Faced Beauty Balm is an amazing all-around product for every day use, especially as the summer (slowly) approaches. Whether I want to use it for coverage or not, as a softening moisturizer it is so incredible that I will definitely be using the Too Faced Tinted Beauty Balm Multi-Benefit Skin Care Makeup! Try it and your face will thank you!
